  Cloud Burst: An extreme rainfall volume in a particularly short period of time, that is typically accompanied by thunderstorms, is referred to as a cloudburst . It normally occurs when clouds exceed their capacity to sustain the water they have collected, and they become unable to maintain it, so they release the water at a single condensed point. A rainfall exceeding 100 mm (approximately 4 inches) in 1 hour over a small locality is called a cloud burst, while the average rainfall is 5 to 10 mm in 1 hour. Its timespan is quite short, and it lasts between minutes and several hours.
